The Conscious Minds were an extraordinary group of musicians brought together by the great Harris "B.B." Seaton in 1969. Members included B.B. Seaton on lead and rhythm guitar, Ken Boothe on organ, Joe White on piano, Maurice Roberts on bass, Derrick Stewart on drums, Shan Fallen on percussion, Derrick Hinds on trombone, Winston Bryan on tenor sax, Willie Brackenridge on 1st trumpet, and Clive Scott on 2nd trumpet.

In Jamaica's late 1960's, most bands were playing for people to dance at night clubs but B.B. Seaton had another vision and decided he wanted a band that did shows only. "We rehearsed a one hour show for three months and appeared for the first time at the VIP Club along with Byron Lee and The Dragonaires. It was fascinating as this was the first show band in the history of Jamaican music and people were flabbergasted with the concept."

The Conscious Minds - Good Mood and Sweet Stick were both originally recorded at Treasure Isle studio and released in 1971. 'Good Mood' is a beautiful instrumental variation of the ever classic 'Hotter The Battle'. This rhythm has backed many great songs throughout reggae history and is a favorite for Jamaican music enthusiasts.

'Sweet Stick' is a stand alone, beautifully orchestrated composition also written and arranged by Mr. Seaton with Willie Brackenridge and the horns section (all former members of The Jamaica Military Band) giving a notably mesmerizing performance. According to B.B., Sweet Stick was created as an original instrumental and was never adopted by a vocal track. "In those days we made the riddim for the song and not the song on the riddim. "

Ohm Records is proud to present these two highly sought after recordings on 7" vinyl format for the first time since their original release 48 years ago.
